Senior Lecturer in Creative Development working in Sheffield Hallam's Learning and Teaching Institute. I have been exploring the appropriateness of digital audio to higher education since 2003 when my interest was initially led by how Digital Audio Learning Objects might be easily developed by staff and students. Subsequently I have looked more widely at audio, realising that it is a versatile medium that can be easily adapted to meet the diverse needs of learning, teaching and assessment. Recently I have undertaken research on learner-generated media and publishing, audio feedback, audio note-making by students, and the development of institutional infrastructure for user-generated content. I blog at: Reflections on educational podcasting I am organising A Word In Your Ear, a conference to share emerging practice in the use of audio feedback in UK HE. It takes place on 18 December 2009 in Sheffield. I am also a member of the Podcasting for Pedagogic Purposes steering group where I enjoy working with over 300 members from across UK HE on how digital media can be used to enhance the curriculum. I am editing a book called Creative Voices with colleagues in this SIG, due for publication in 2010.
