Ongoing interest in playmobil. What is Playmobil? a machine running Linux and software developed by ETH Zurich that captures analog signals i.e. vga content, video and audio. The ETH Zurich pilot consists of a Mac mini, Epiphan frame grabber and audio leveller. image. This machine sits in the lecture theatre and records content, based on iCal schedules sent to it via Replay. Commercial systems for automated lecture recording are becoming more popular in UK HE institutions and the interest in open source solutions is driven by a) a need to address the high cost of rolling out a commercial system on a wide scale b) a desire to address issues such as long term archival of high quality versions of content for 'future proofing' that commercial systems, in general ignore.

Transcripts - accessibility.
- Manual transcripts: Sub-contract transcripts, e.g. via internet service
- sub contract students
- There are various internet-based services that accept submission of e.g. mp3, and return a transcript within a certain time-frame.
- Amazon Mechanical Turk. (https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome). It was suggested that Mechanical Turk could be an option for providing transcripts, but the view that MT is essentially a 'virtual sweatshop' is not unfounded: See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Mechanical_Turk#Criticism
- Automated transcripts
