[edit] Support for disabled students
At a campus-based university it may be possible to provide support for disabled students by responding to requests. So for example a support worker may be able to describe a video to a blind student, or a transcriber may be able to create a transcript. In contrast, at a distance support for disabled student needs to be anticipated and planned in advance.
Students expectations of accessible material need to be managed: if students find video material on iTunes U to be transcribed/described/captioned/signed they may expect material in all the university’s courses to be similarly accessible.
