[edit] 1 Technical Support
The system is primarily maintained by the Podcasting Team in the LTG. They provide first line support and will be doing the majority of the system development.
Second line support is provided by OUCS Systems Development Team.
Third line support is provided by NSMS who have 4 qualified Apple Systems Administrators to call upon.
Hardware support is provided by the vendors under relevant warranties.
Supplementary support of the systems is available via external consultants.
Service level requirements for the podcasting service allow for generous amounts of downtime and opportunities to seek further help in event of a failure/issue beyond local knowledge.
[edit] 1.1 Training Requirements
Setup and operation of the podcasting cluster has a range of key requirements in terms of software and service knowledge. These include:
- Apple OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Server
- Apple OX X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Server, due to be deployed late 2009
- Apple XSAN 2
- Podcast Producer (v1, and soon, v2) – OS X Service
- Open Directory – OS X Service
- XGrid – OS X Service
- Episode Podcast & Episode Engine – Third party applications used in workflows
- DNS – OS X Service
- Mail – OS X Service
Due to the critical nature the SAN plays within the Cluster setup, good XSAN 2 deployment and administration knowledge is essential; not only at setup, but for the duration the system is in use. At present, there are no qualified XSAN 2 engineers within the University of Oxford. It is proposed that suitable training is sought and delivered
