[edit] 1 Description of abstract element: Mediacontent
An enclosure is needed. The suggestion is to use the <media:content> element, with some additional attributes. It's essential to have these values when remotely embedding media. The <media:group> element is also interesting: It collates serveral versions together.
Media information needs to be present in dc fields, because they are key for generating rss/atom. We must not rely on a mechanism that relies on the storage to determine these values.
Note: rss:enclosure (cannot be used because can only occur once), but we may want to include it for the main media item.
<atom:link rel="enclosure" o:bitrate="" o:height="" />
Extensive discussion of enclosures:
2 Discussion of mediacontent [add to discussion, edit discussion]
[edit] 2.1 What if different content items have got different titles?
Needs to be resolved in dublin core/eth/etc.
For syndication, yahoo media offers a solution, see [1].
Also see Msc/E/title.
3 Expression of mediacontent in various schemes [Edit properties]
As xml in Matterhorn xml and rss/atom:
<Dc:rightsHolder> ... mediacontent ... </Dc:rightsHolder>
<Media:Content Url="..."> ... mediacontent ... </Media:Content>
<Media:Content Url="..."> ... mediacontent ... </Media:Content>
Full table:
| name | number | MH xml | RSS (with Yahoo/Steeple) | attributes | Atom (with Yahoo/Steeple) | attr |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mediacontent | 2525 | Dc:rightsHolder | Media:Content | Url="..." | Media:Content | Url="..." |
Are there alternative constructs available through Yahoo media or iTunesU? If so, list them here:
| yahoo media | attr | iTunesU | attr | PCP | attr |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Media:Content | Url="..." |
How is the same xml handled by different systems?
