[edit] 1 Description of abstract element: Institution
Institutional classification.
Related to to dc:creator/dc:rightholder, but more specific, and hierarchical. Publishers/rightsholder etc would need to decide how the item should be catalogued on 3rd party sites.

[edit] 2.2 Matterhorn scheme
There is no dcterms:institution. Depending on the definition, two concepts cover the related domain: One is dcterms:publisher which can be differentiated as publishing item or series; the other is dcterms:contributor (for collection!) that expresses institutional or organizational affiliation.
