Interested in what people have to say on the following ..
- visualising the metadata in different ways ( clouds, wordles, virtal pathways between feed items, tagging opportunities etc etc)
- ANOTHER IDEA: I could provide code for my 'feed normaliser', the bit that does the aggregation into my system (perl/libxml). One thing I would be like to be able to do is to have this as a "pass-through" solution that operates at Oxford, standardising and enhancing your basic Oxitems feeds from an additional database. For instance, one could do something where three rss feeds (one audio, one video, one odf) are merged into a single media-rss feed (such that corresponding items in all feeds are collated into one item with several <media:content> elements), as well as enhanced with geodata (from a separate database). I thus get a more complete feed arriving in Cambridge, with which I can do a bit more. See Pass through feed engine.
- aggregation of large sets of itunesu like feeds..
- cache solutions to keep things from hitting the RSS servers (more info here Simplepie database caching)
- system architecture advice for the ENSEMBLE ideas - middleware
- what open source RSS aggregator is similar to a podcasts aggregator ..
- Simplepie is good, see Mini projects and Simplepie database caching.
- drupal / joomla for an institutional web presence - ask for advice
- Some more ideas here: Mini projects
fancy jotting a few ideas/questions on the above on a Steeple wiki page ??
any ideas on a few feeds that represent a podcast set ..
- Any of the iTunesU categories on the http://podcast.steeple.org.uk portal have a cross institutional items: e.g. this page for history links to this feed. Note that for some server reason, the feed doesn't work in Safari, but it does work in FF, and you can fetch it with wget.
