[edit] 1 Ideas for discussion
A list of ideas for discussion for the BR/September meeting. For details about the meeting, see BR/September meeting.
Workshops/training:
- monthly webinars
- workshops
- thoughts on first workshop (tentative suggestion for date/location is week 23rd November in Nottingham)
Opportunities for collaboration:
- code share (people are building a lot of code from scratch - can we pull together and share)
- demo environment ... what do people want to see? How do we run this as a community?
- Where do the servers go
- the Syndication book ("How do I make the right feeds for iTunesu?")
Thoughts:
- governance/steering
- relation with opencast
- relation with PPP
[edit] 2 Adoption
Engaging with institutions to explore issues around adoption of Steeple:
- firstly - make sure they know the benefits they might get! Steeple community already widely sharing this info
- make sure this is not just the existing Steeple community, try to reach at least a handful of institutions who have not engaged with institutional podcasting yet so we can learn why
- then, supporting adoption where possible
- where adoption isn't straightforward, contacting multiple parties within an institution
- individual discussions (phone/visit perhaps best, or email) about any factors helping or hindering take-up
- collate information and build up picture of the institutional environment, challenges and blockers to take-up of steeple outputs
- potentially identify paths to smooth things over so that Steeple outputs can be adopted in whole or in part?
- support/share potential paths with relevant players within the institution (tricky politics in this area!)
- make sure the BR project can see all sides of institutional issues, eg not just the IT department perspective, which may not present the whole picture
Bjoern 18:54, 18 September 2009 (UTC): This is more of a project plan regarding adoption strategy (and what makes a good adoption strategy) - shall we move this perhaps to BR/Adoption?
Laura: I see the whole BR project as being about adoption, so I'm not sure that it's really a separate section. Nonetheless, it might be worth separating out a strategy page - as long as this doesn't detract from ideas gathering where they are to do with strategy as well as other activities
